An Open Letter to Conservatives
A highly referenced invitation letter to political "conservatives" to cut out the BS and get to work doing their jobs.

It seems only natural. I have a motorcycle now and I still relish philosophical discussion.

A Brave New World
If this is the path our world is headed, I guess I should refresh my understanding.

third times a charm
Ok, so a technical glitch scrubbed the launch for Wednesday morning. NASA will meet late this afternoon to see if they will try for Friday morning at midnight or Friday night... close to midnight. Fingers crossed that they get it off before the window closes!

scrubbed
STS-128 was scrubbed last night due to weather. It has been rescheduled for 1:10 AM Wednesday morning. Dunno if I can do it two nights in a row. Grrrrrr.

Ohhhh! STS-128 will be the last night time shuttle launch for NASA before it retires the current shuttle program. So, I will make the two hour trek to Cape Canaveral and see if can't catch the spectacular sight and sound of one of man's greatest engineering achievement.

I hope the conditions are right for the launch. As of now, things still seem a go for the 1:36 AM launch.

God speed.

9.58 sec
Just think of all the things you could and could not do in just nine and a half seconds.

Would being able to run 100 meters be one of them?

Congratulations, Mr Bolt.

oh holy $&@!, it's AC/DC
Hey Brian, thanks for the advice and well wishes! Yep, everyone is telling me all kinds of ways not to kill or injure myself. Most of them being simply not to get on the darned thing! But too late! I'm hooked! Well maybe that might last as long as I keep the shiny side up. But I can't wait to start riding. Hopefully I can get to a point where I can hit up learning and racing on the track! But that might not be for awhile.

That Jeep is dead sexy! Nice pics! Where were the mountains at?

In other news, AC/DC is coming to town! Now I've never been much of a huge outdoor concert fan, mostly due to my aversion to large throngs of people sweating, screaming and pressing up against me. But I may just get out there and brave it for the band from Oz!

Test transmission. Blogging from my iPhone. Hmmm, maybe I need to update my code to make this little more convenient to do?

officially sanctioned hooligan
Over this past weekend I went out and learned how to ride a motorbike. This of course was under professional supervision as I enrolled in the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Beginner RidersCourse. So, after fifteen hours of motorcycling education – five hours of classroom learnings and ten hours of practice outside on an actual motorcycle (and written and riding proficiency tests) the department of motor vehicles has deemed me worthy of having a license to ride!

Some might say I’ve really just gotten a license to die due to the inherent danger of motorcycling. While I’ve done my best to not follow the squid path and will continue to be vigilant in my motorcycle safety, I do acknowledge that I am taking on a large amount of risk when I choose to ride. And while I’ve done just the absolute bare minimum in obtaining a motorcycle license, I will continue to practice the fundamentals I learned in training and slowly improve my skills. I fully expect to stay out of any traffic and off highways for at least the next three to six months as I work on my basic skills in parking lots and around the neighborhood. And no worries, I won’t be purchasing a “crotch rocket” as my first bike. Oh make no mistake, one day I hope to add one of those fearsome sports machines to the collection (I mean this is just sex on two wheels), but not right now nor would I expect anytime soon. No, like I said I plan to start out slow and be steady in my progression as a rider. I am looking to start with a nice used 1995 – 2002 Suzuki GS500. Then depending on how good I feel about my skills, I’ll look to upgrade to a Kawasaki Ninja 650R, Suzuki SV650 or a Ducati Monster 696. Maybe, if I practice hard enough and keep a good clean riding record, I can make the jump to a Triumph Speed Triple. Maybe. But those thoughts are far from where I’m at right now.

At any rate, I’m sure I’ll post pics (HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! Oh, guess I still have some other ones to post first) when I finally find a good starter bike.
