beginning to hope
Well now, it has been quite a while since I’ve been seen mulling around here. I do hope the New Year’s resolutions have lasted a bit longer than mine have.

So what’s been up? Any news? Nothing? Oh well. Not much here, either. Been doing the work thing a lot. Some existential querying here and video gaming there. You know, the usual. Hey, by the by Santa brought me a couple of ipods for being such a nice little boy. Yeah, I’m a bit late to the enjoyment of highly portable music in slick pod, but what are you gonna do? I eventually got over my disdain for Apple so there.

So I happened upon one of those cool little new shuffles for the physical exertion portion of my days and a fifth generation thirty gigabit video one which, quite impressively, holds my entire CD collection in one-third of the space. Yeah, I’ll admit that’s pretty darned cool. By the by, if you wish to vastly improve your pod aural ecstasy pick up a pair of Etymōtics ERs 6i. Bloody fantastic and they stay firmly in place when doing that physical exertion thing. I’m almost tempted to find out what the top-of-the-line ones sound like.

And of course, with all my ripping and cataloguing I ventured over to the Itunes store. Good gravy man! All I can say is that I have spent more on music in these last few weeks than I have over the last four years. Seriously. And no it wasn’t because I was being illegal. Of late I’ve gotten reacquainted with some old favorites and guilty pleasures (I don’t care - “Weird AL” is a freaking genius, his new stuff, White & Nerdy and Confessions pt III have me ROTFLOL and the nerdy video… swear to god the Donny Osmond cameo almost sent me to the hospital). And while I was clicking on my mizzouse hunting for other lost treasure, I discovered new gold. Especially noteworthy at the moment Corrinne Bailey Rae and Regina Spektor - completely infatuated with them right now. In particular the deliciously quirky Ms. Spektor. I remember hearing Fidelity on the radio one day and thinking I shouldn’t like this song but something about the voice… reminiscent of another infatuation, a bijou from Alaska. After many repeats of On The Radio, Hotel Song and That Time - another lovely brilliance added to my list of women with whom to be stuck on an island.

In other news, I see Barrack Obama has decided to explore the viability of his presidential candidacy. You know I’ll be watching his ascendancy very closely. I hope he doesn’t disappoint. I don’t know, I just have this warm fuzzy feeling. I see a potential in him and this country with him at the helm that has gotten me keenly interested in this political race. Let’s see how it plays out shall we? Meanwhile, I’m checking out The Audacity of Hope and Dreams of my Father (audiobooks on the ipod baby!) to get a better understanding of the man and what his outlook. Perhaps, you’d care to do the same?

Happy New Year
I hope all is well with my friends and family and that this new year ushers in another chance at what you hope to accomplish.
